Scammers fishing and playing with fire!

Scammers new tactic is using email addresses that appear from an IRS agent. For Example: first_lastname@irs.gov  Subject Line: “Rejected Federal Tax transfer”. The body of the email: “Your Tax payment (ID#00000xxxx), recently from your bank account was canceled by the The Electronic Federal Tax Payment System”.  The email is trying to get you to open a file that suppose to have PDF tax report.   If you receive one of these, please forward to phishing@irs.gov and your tax accountant. The IRS relies on United States Postal Service to notify us of any issues.  You can call the IRS to verify your tax payment has been received at 800-829-1040.Provided by Greg T. Computer virus that you need to be aware of!! The virus is called “Security Shield”. This is a tough virus to remove and it looks like a real virus protection software.  It tries to get you to answer “Yes” or “No” questions. Also, “Click here to remove viruses” and in the background it will show about 50 viruses to remove.  This reared its ugly head on my son’s computer. This virus would not let me run a virus scan. You could open programs in the background but Security Shield window would not move or move to the background. I figured this is probably going to cost me at least a $100 to get it removed. How I fixed it without paying that $100.  I first open my computer in SafeMode then I was able to run a virus scan. It removed 7 cookies.  You still will need to delete the Security Shield file.  I google “Security Shield” and found a U-Tub video that explains how to remove the virus.  I rebooted the computer in normal windows and it works great. I hope this saves you $100 and a trip to the store. Author, Greg T. Dunavant, BSA
